Waterfront

In the protected waters of Narragansett Bay just south of the Newport Bridge, CYC’s active waterfront features a pier, floating dock, boat ramp, moorings, launch service, and small boat storage, serving a wide variety of sailing and boating activities.

Around the Island Race

ATI is CYC’s flagship sailing event and one of the oldest races in Narragansett Bay. Held annually since 1927, the ATI sails the classic 20 mile course around the scenic Conanicut Island typically drawing close to 100 boats in both racing and cruising classes. Moorings

The Club owns and maintains 29 seasonal moorings on the CYC waterfront. Club members have access to moorings based on availability and waitlist priority.

Launch Service

CYC provides seasonal launch service to club members and visiting guests within East Ferry harbor area. CYC launch Bruce B can be reached on VHF channel 72. View Launch Schedule.

Racing and Cruising

CYC hosts a number of Club member sailing races and cruises each year, including Sunday afternoon J/22 Fleet racing.

J/22 Sailing

CYC offers a fleet of 4 J/22 sailboats for Club member use. J/22’s are available for a variety of activities including day sailing, race charters, group sailing, adult sailing instruction, hourly rentals and junior sailing.

CYC is host to J/22 Fleet 12. Racing is held on Sunday afternoons during late June, July and August, and is open to all J/22 sailors, including non-members. Fleet 12 racing is known for being family-friendly, and highly Corinthian, but serious enough to be sailed with spinnakers.

Powerboat Instruction

CYC provides powerboat instruction to both members and non-members seeking to improve the boat handling skills and/or obtain their Rhode Island Boating License.

Adult Sailing Instruction

CYC provides adult sailing instruction to both members and non-members on the Club J/22’s.
Private and group lessons are available and geared to any level of experience.

Reciprocity

CYC offers reciprocal privileges and transient moorings to visiting guests in accordance with the Yachting Club of America reciprocity privileges and our Reciprocity guidelines.
